When my client approached me, she was on the brink of launching her new multi-service space: a unique blend of medspa, nail spa, restaurant, and bar. Her vision was clear: she wanted this to be a social experience, a place where guests felt present, not distracted by screens. But there was a pressing issue: how to design a menu that could cover four distinct categories without resorting to phones or tablets?

Together, we explored a variety of tactile, intuitive menu solutions, eventually landing on something that brought both charm and function: custom-designed clipboard menus. Each guest would receive a clipboard upon arrival with a pencil attached, allowing them to browse offerings, make selections, and hand it off to a staff member for fulfillment.

This wasn’t just about aesthetics, it was about enhancing the customer journey and reflecting the brand’s commitment to meaningful, device-free interactions. From layout and typography to usability and material choice, every design decision reinforced that goal.

Seeing the menus in action with guests chatting, flipping through, and circling their choices was one of the most rewarding moments of this project. I've also had the opportunity to design many other supporting visual materials and brand elements to help enhance the overall guest experience.
